Technical and job training is available through an impressive network of schools, colleges, universities and training facilities. South Carolina’s technical education system is regarded among the nation’s best. Marion County has its own technical education center for high school students which provides excellent opportunities to prepare for the workplace or continue further technical training at a technical college. Marion County TEC has an alliance relationship with Florence-Darlington Technical College, which provides excellent job training opportunities and is conveniently located to Marion County companies. Florence-Darlington Technical College is within 45 minutes driving time of Marion County. The Marion County TEC is also aligned with Francis Marion and S.C. State University.
As an integral part of the SC Technical College System, The Center for Accelerated Technology Training and its readySC program work together with the 16 technical colleges to prepare South Carolina’s workforce to meet the needs of new or expanding companies. The training is conducted on site or a nearby location. Almost, without exception, training is provided at no cost to the company.

Marion County´s Technical Education Center has helped workers throughout the state, with services such as customized courses and industry training.
Higher educational opportunities are readily available to those living in and around Marion County. Area institutions within close proximity include Francis Marion University, Florence-Darlington Technical College, Coker College, Coastal Carolina University, and Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
Marion County´s school district utilizes the resources of the Marion County Technical Education Center (MCTEC) on U.S. Highway 76 between Marion and Mullins. The Tech Center is an award-winning regional hub for nursing students and business and industry conferences and seminars. The center works closely with business and industry to provide education and training in interpersonal skills, team building, workplace quality, and many other essential courses. It has boosted the economic development efforts of Marion County by serving as a training center for new, existing and prospective industries. MCTEC has allegiances with three area schools of higher education.
The Pee Dee Workforce Investment Board serves individuals in Marion County through the SC Department of Employment and Workforce. They offer fully equipped Internet accessible computer labs for company-specific training, numerous assessment tools for present employees and new hires, reimbursement for on-the-job-training, and employer-related seminars.
Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT)
The first facility of its kind in the United States, SiMT provides the support needed by area and future industries to advance the region's ability to provide a highly trained workforce. Made possible by partnerships with businesses and industries, this facility features an Advanced Manufacturing Center, 3-D/Virtual Reality Center and a National Robotics Center. SiMT offers open-enrollment, on-site and customized training as well as manufacturing startup assistance and consulting services.
